#lego ultimate collector series assault on hoth

20221201: story time! this was a picture I took of the 75098 Ultimate Collector Series (USC) Assault on Hoth from 2016 several years ago when it actually snowed significantly where I lived. I remember watching the snow start just coming down and thinking about how neat it would be to have pictures of some of my snow sets in the actual snow! I pulled this box down from the shelf and then did a speed-build (which I don’t normally do because I normally enjoy the entire building process and relish in all the different sections and build techniques) in order to try and get this built and the pictures taken before the snow was disturbed or melted. I managed to get everything done and put outside just as the sun set, giving it a nice bluish tint to the entire scene. During the last days of The Move, Hoth got thrown into whatever container happened to be large enough to fit it and I am only just now taking it out of the last minute container so I can inventory it and pack it correctly. so about Assault on Hoth. this set is really, really neat, very technical, and very detailed, and almost everything fires a transparent red missile. I have so many missiles right now with this set. So. Many. anyway. I think the feature I enjoy the most is the giant doors which work together through technique pins to close at the same time when you turn the knob. I was NOT a fan of the half-disk power generators that seemed to fall apart every time I looked at them wrong, let alone trying to move them from the top of the bookshelves to the floor and then from the floor into a container and then from that container to my disassembly table. this set is far bigger than I thought it would be when I originally purchased it many years ago. But it is a very, very sturdy build. plus, you know, it has a tantan and a wampa and who doesn’t need THOSE??!?! :D just for fun, I added the snowspeeders and original caption 20210214: Lego Snowspeeder(s) in the actual snow! one of these is a replica I made out of spare parts of Lego set 7130. one of these is the snowspeeder from the Assault on Hoth, Lego set 75098. one of these is the original snowspeeder, Lego set 7130, from 1999.
